Hi, I’m Kate Yoakam.

I have always been creative at heart! I’m a grown theater kid, a crafter and a dabbler in many different art forms. You can often find me crocheting, reading, cooking, watching local theater, or trying out a new hobby (currently learning how to watercolor paint!). I LOVE Jesus, coffee, the ocean and adore learning about history! I homeschooled for 21 years and was heavily involved in our local homeschool community in volunteer, teaching/tutoring and leadership roles.

I live in Otsego, Minnesota with my husband of 25 years and we have 3 adult children. We recently purchased a Travel Trailer and have started to plan what it might be like to leave Minnesota during the coldest months and enjoy traveling together and exploring our beautiful country.

I have had the opportunity to work in various professional office settings in small and large companies. My work experience includes roles such as receptionist, administration, and executive support. Additionally, I am a co-owner in my husband's construction company so I really understand the pains of owning a small business and what it takes.

Throughout my experience teaching/tutoring in various homeschool co-ops, I’ve had the pleasure of instructing several subjects. However, my all-time favorite has always been history. I find great delight in bringing dull textbook information to life, allowing my students to understand the importance of history and how we can learn from it. I also have been involved in History Day in Minnesota; bringing 55 students through the entire competition. Many of my students received regional awards and went on the the state level of competition.

Moreover, I was part of the leadership team of a homeschool co-op with over 50 families (pre-K-12) for a decade and served as a director for four years. During my tenure, I helped with marketing the co-op to attract the right families, obtaining 501c3 status, and developing systems that made running the co-op easier, and planning and leadership changes smooth and seamless.

During my time as Director, I was not only focused on providing quality education to our children but also on fostering a sense of community within the co-op. We organized events and encouraged an atmosphere of camaraderie. This experience has helped me in my current role of developing online communities on social media platforms. I am passionate about creating an environment where customers feel cared for and valued and are motivated to share their experiences.

I have a Kolbe Index of 5294 (Fact Finder, Follow Through, Quick Start, Implementor)

My Clifton Strengths are Context, Input, Empathy, Adaptability and Connectedness.

My Personality type is ENFP- A (Extraverted, Intuitive, Feeling and Prospecting)
